BANKERS LIFE AND CASUALTY COMPANY CONTINUES SUPPORT OF MEALS ON WHEELS CHICAGO WITH $20,000 DONATION
Thursday, October 14, 2010
CHICAGO (October 14, 2010) - Bankers Life
and Casualty Company renewed its support of Meals on Wheels Chicago
with a $20,000 donation to aid the organization's mission of
providing warm, nutritious meals and related services to Chicago's
homebound seniors and people with disabilities, allowing them to
maintain independent, dignified lifestyles.
The donation from Bankers - the national life and health
insurer focusing on the retirement market - allows Meals on Wheels
Chicago to apply the funds directly to the programs and services
most in need of resources, such as Home Delivered Meals, Holiday
Meals, Short-Term Immediate Meals and Home Modification, which
involves adapting a recipient's home to his or her unique
needs.
"At Bankers Life and Casualty Company, our agents and employees
understand the importance our senior customers place on living
independently and remaining in their homes for as long as
possible," said Scott Perry, president of Bankers. "Supporting
Meals on Wheels Chicago gives us an opportunity to help further the
organization's mission of meeting the basic needs of thousands of
homebound Chicago seniors and providing them with the means to
maintain their independence."
Since 2004, Bankers has supported the mission of Meals on Wheels
Chicago with $200,000 for programs, services and fundraising
initiatives.
"As an organization striving to meet the basic needs of
Chicago's most vulnerable population, Meals on Wheels Chicago is
grateful to have the continued support of Bankers Life and Casualty
Company," said Kimberly Siske, Executive Director of Meals on
Wheels Chicago. "Our partnership over the years has been very
beneficial and we greatly appreciate their continued investment in
our work."
