VETERAN INSURANCE OPERATIONS EXECUTIVE JOINS BANKERS LIFE AND CASUALTY COMPANY

CHICAGO (November 1, 2004) - John W.
Wells, 54, has joined Bankers Life and Casualty Company, Chicago,
as senior vice president of Operations. Wells will manage "back
office" operations such as customer service, underwriting, new
business, claims, operations support and administration for the
national company, which focuses on the insurance needs of
seniors.
"We're looking for John to make an
immediate contribution to our day-to-day activities," said Scott
Perry, executive vice president and COO of Bankers. "He brings a
25-year record of achievement to the job and that experience will
be critical as we continue with a very ambitious growth plan for
our field operations."
The Georgia native comes to Bankers
after four years as senior vice president of the Customer Service
and Medicare Divisions of Mutual of Omaha. Wells also served for 21
years as senior vice president of Insurance Operations at Jefferson
Pilot Financial, Concord, N.H., formerly Chubb Life.
Wells earned a B.S. in business
administration from Auburn University and achieved his CPA
designation and accountancy license from the State of Tennessee in
1982.
